Shark Island – Boowambillee sits about one kilometre from the mouth of Rose Bay. It is part of Sydney Harbour National Park and is known as a picnic destination. From Life’s Good, a scenic pass offers a chance to see the island in its wider waterfront setting.

For a group that wants variety in the scenery, an island leg can complement the city landmarks and leafy bays. It gives the cruise another point of interest without requiring the group to leave the vessel.

Sightseeing and landing are different plans

Our location guide describes an onboard cruise-by. Landing on Shark Island requires advance bookings and a National Parks landing fee. Private vessels may pick up and drop off but cannot moor at the island, and access can also be affected by park alerts.

Those arrangements are not included simply because Shark Island appears on your route wish list. If an island visit is important, raise it before booking so we can explain whether any separate arrangements are practical.

Combine island views with a meal onboard

One option to discuss is an eastern-harbour sightseeing leg around the Rose Bay area, followed by lunch at a suitable stopping place chosen by the skipper. You can appreciate the island from the boat and keep your food, drinks and group in one place.
